9 years ago I was on Necker Island with Richard Branson, George and Amal Clooney, Sister Helen Prejean (who wrote Dead Man Walking)and Anthony Ray Hinton who had just been released from death row after decades of wrongful incarceration (among others).
This was a few months before Brexit and 6 months before Trump’s first term. We were discussing how we could wok to eradicate the death penalty in the US (we weren’t successful).
9 years later the world has turned completely upside down. The world order is being redrawn and more people like Anthony Ray Hinton are being wrongfully incarcerated in the US (not to mention those flown overseas to black sites.) Many without due process.
I hope the next 9 years are kinder, more compassionate and more just that the last.
