AI Isn’t Replacing Leaders. It’s Revealing Them.

I couldn’t love or agree with this article more by Daniel Goleman in the Korn Ferry newsletter. Here are a couple of the best quotes in my opinion…

“The quality of human guidance and organizational redesign will determine whether AI helps us achieve the value we hope it does.

For leaders, this means AI will make your leadership more visible than ever. The emerging story is not one of machines taking over human jobs, but one of AI revealing the strengths and gaps in leadership that already exist.”

“Leaders who listen closely, stay connected to purpose, and attune themselves to the feelings and motivations of others are best positioned to help people move through anxiety, uncertainty, and loss of control.”

I think this last quote really highlights something that I have been discussing for a while. AI used correctly will make us more human. And it’s these human skills that will make or break us, especially when it comes to leadership, and especially given the broader context of everything else that we’re dealing with.

Not only are we seeing AI disrupt jobs, but we also have everything else that’s happening in the world, which I refer to as the Polycrisis. From the U.S. invasions to warships off the Australian shore, to climate change, to the bumpy road in the economy. We’ve got a lot going on and that will surface a lot of anxiety and uncertainty as well as loss of control.

So it’s the human leadership skills that are needed to help our teams through all of this.

Have a read. This article is really full of gems.
