Five years on from the first COVID lockdowns, we’re not just navigating a new way of working—we’re confronting an entirely new era of how we work.
In this second post of my three-part series on post-pandemic workplace trends, we’re talking about one of the biggest disruptors of our time:

👉Artificial Intelligence.

AI Is Already Changing the Game
But @Gallup’s latest research shows that just employee usage remains somewhat limited. Only 15% of white-collar employees use AI weekly, while 54% never use it (vs. 81% of frontline and production workers who never use it). Among those who do use AI, 45% say it makes them more productive and efficient.

This is huge.

The opportunity gap is massive. The leaders and teams who learn to use AI effectively aren’t just working smarter—they’re creating an entirely new competitive edge.

Australians Especially Are Falling Behind

According to PwC’s 2025 Global CEO Survey, Australia’s CEOs are behind the global average when it comes to bold reinvention—including adopting transformative technologies like GenAI.

✅ 88% say AI is important to their business strategy in the next 3–5 years
❌ But only 1 in 3 say they actually trust it enough to embed it into key processes

In other words: we know it matters, but we’re not moving fast enough.

Why? Caution. Uncertainty. And let’s be honest—a lot of people still don’t understand how to use AI effectively in their day-to-day work.
This is especially true in Australia, where the mindset around risk and innovation tends to be more conservative than in the US or parts of Europe.

Fear ≠ Strategy
Let me be clear: AI isn’t coming for your job. But it is coming for your job description.
The good news? You can adapt.
This is the message I bring in my Every Day AI and Future-Proof 2035 keynotes: that the real magic happens when we pair human intelligence with artificial intelligence.

We don’t need to fear AI—we need to harness it. Ethically. Confidently. Creatively.

Start by building AI fluency—not technical fluency, but practical understanding.
