Is Your Business Future-Proofed?

According to PwC ‘s 28th annual CEO Survey released earlier this year 42% of global CEOs do not think their business will be around in 10 years – unless it changes course.

They are worried about 3 types of disruption:

  • AI / Technology – changing how we do what we do and levelling the playing field. It opens up new products and services, introduces surprising competitors, and demands near-constant upskilling, reskilling, and innovation
  • The Polycrisis – converging global challenges (climate change, economic and political shifts, regulatory changes, wars, potential pandemics) that drive rapidly shifting consumer demands and create fatigue and frustration for both consumers and employees.
  • The Rise of the Empowered Workforce – where the global skills shortage collides with a workforce whose priorities are shifting toward purpose, flexibility, autonomy, and selectivity.

PwC’s report from February of this year calls for “Bold and Audacious Reinvention.”

What got us from where we were to where we are will not be sufficient to move us to where we want to go.

And there’s a new sense of urgency. If you feel things are moving fast – just wait. Predictions for 2026 are that change will keep accelerating.

The world’s leading companies know this and they are taking steps to future-proof themselves.

  • They are taking a strategic approach to implementing AI instead of the ‘ready, fire, aim’ approach we see from so many companies today.
  • They are using AI to free up their humans’ time to be more human (to interact more with their teams, their stakeholders and their clients and customers)
  • They understand that their clients and customers are demanding more; radical customisation and personalisation and they are developing ways to serve them better.
  • They are experimenting with innovative workforce strategies that divide the work between AI employees and human ones and cater to their human workforce’s changing needs.
  • They know the old rules of leadership are broken and are empowering and supporting their leaders to truly lead.

I’ve been studying these trends since 2018 and have been talking about these 3 disruptions and ways to reinvent our business, workforce strategies and leadership from conference stages and in boardrooms with clients for the last 2 years.

Now, for the first time, I’m bringing these concepts and case studies to my wider community.

Because I feel this sense of urgency keenly.
