Columnist David Brooks recently made a statement that stopped me dead in my tracks. He said, “Trump is the wrong answer to the right questions.”
Let’s be clear – this isn’t just about politics or personalities. It’s about the deeper need for bold and thoughtful questioning. We live in an era of monumental shifts, economically, technologically, and socially.
Merely reacting is no longer enough. Playing around the fringes is no longer enough. Incremental changes are no longer enough.
Monumental shifts require big, bold changes. But we must first identify and engage with some big, bold questions.
🔄 Understanding the Underlying Issues
Trump’s rise was symptomatic of deeper societal issues—economic anxiety, institutional distrust, and cultural displacement to name a few.
IMHO, his solutions are flawed (and mercurial), but the underlying questions he raises demand our attention.
🌍 Are You Ready to Engage with the Big Questions?
My community seems to thrive on intellectual curiosity and critical thinking. I have been consistently questioning the status quo and you wouldn’t be following me if you weren’t at least somewhat interested in engaging with these big ideas.
But I’m curious: are you truly interested in raising this to the next level?
Let’s start by identifying the big, critical questions you want to grapple with or are curious about.
🚀 Here are Some Big Questions I’d like to Explore:
- How can we responsibly leverage technology to truly serve humanity?
- How do we rebuild discourse and trust in divided societies?
- How can organisations genuinely foster diversity and inclusion in the era of Trump – and without it being a tick in the box exercise?
- In an age of rapid technological advances, how can we ensure ethical oversight – given our governments appear to be very far behind and/or acting in their own self-interest?
- What is the future of meaningful work?
- Do we need to start to consider universal basic income?
- How do we take our teams on the journey of transformation when their very identity and sense of purpose are threatened?
- Do we need to begin to debate rights for AI?
Which of these big questions fascinates you the most? What else excites you or keeps you up at night?
Let’s engage thoughtfully. I’d love your insights – share your thoughts below or message me directly.
If there is enough interest, I’d love to host a series of think tanks for senior leaders around some of these ideas. Let me know if you’d be keen.
✨ In the meantime, one of the big questions I’m encouraging everyone to engage in is:
“How can I leverage AI for myself and my team to make us better, faster, stronger, more effective – and more efficient?”
To that end, I’m hosting another Deep Dive AI Lab – a hands-on session to learn how you can embrace this revolutionary technology.
Spaces are limited so everyone gets 1:1 attention and hands-on experience.
